THE NEST IS EMPTY!

The nest is empty and the babies have flown away!

I looked up Mockingbirds on the Internet and I learned the babies must have been hatched awhile before I found them.  It said after 12 days they would leave the nest and hop around on the limbs and even on the ground until they could forge for themselves.
This is what I found yesterday afternoon.

And hop they did!

This morning I went out to check and all was gone, even the parents.  I guess they are fast learning birds.  I did try to pick this one up to put it back on the bush, but it spread it's little wings and ran really fast under some brush that I hadn't picked up.  The mama was on the wire so I didn't run after it in fear that she might attack me.  Oh well I must leave all to Mother Nature.  No, Milo, never even offered to harm them.  When he kills something he always brings it and lays it at the back door. Nothing at the back door this morning,  Good kitty!

BABY BIRDS GROWING FAST! Update

Look what surprised me when I went out to check on the babies this morning.

Sitting on a limb of the Rosemary brush was this sweet little mockingbird,  out of the nest, to my surprise. Isn't it cute?  They do grow fast!
When I tried to look over at the others it jumped to another limb.  I sure hope it gets back in the nest.

Mama keeps a close watch on the light wire above.

If you look to the top left of the Rosemary bush, you'll see Mama bird watching closer.  The babies are down deeper into the bush.

Daddy and mama sits on the light wire at all times except to fly off and get food, usually one at a time.
Milo lays under the car just to get out of the sun.  Yesterday as he walked across the yard mama flew down and pecked him.
Hubby and I sit in the swing to watch them flying back and forward to feed their young.

They are growing up too fast like our children do.  Kind of sad but necessary.

Have a Blessed Day!

A NEW FIND!

You thought I had found a new teacup or teapot, right?  Well for the  last week I have been working in my flower beds and this is what I found yesterday in my rosemary bush.  They have just hatched.  I'll try to take pictures as they grow and fly away.  That is if I can keep my cat Milo from them.  The mama and papa bird keeps a close watch over them.  Here she is perched on the wire above the rosemary bush.

She didn't like me so close to her babies.

There's the rosemary bush at the corner of the house and Mama Bird on the wire above and close by.

I don't know for sure what kind of bird it is but my hubby thinks it's a mockingbird.

MEMORIAL DAY CHURCH SERVICE

We had a great Memorial Day service today at church to honor all our service men and women that has and still are serving  our great nation!

There was a member of each branch of the Military that carried their flag in.

On each Memorial Day and 4th of July there are 50 flags posted in front of the church.

We should never take for granted our freedom, for someone had to fight for it so we can enjoy all that America has.  I give God the glory!

Enjoying Mother's Day Goodies

I suppose the weekend is catching up with me,  I sure didn't want to get going this morning.  I finally pulled myself out of bed after listening to Madi (chihuahua)  whine for me to get up.  I still didn't want
to busy myself, so I made myself some Strawberry Tea,  prettied up the table on my patio and placed the
cookies my daughter gave me on a plate with a piece of chocolate biscotti.  The flower cookie is a Green Smiley Daisy Honey Lemon cookie. The Teapot cookie is a Honey Vanilla Cookie. I saved the teapot cookie and the Apple Cinnamon cookies for later.  The Ahmad  Strawberry Sensation Tea is a black tea from London, England, it  was good but maybe I should have had a different flavor that went better with the biscotti.  It was so nice to sit outside and listen to the birds sing.  There was a gentle breeze  that made it perfect.  I could have sat there all morning.

Aren't they pretty?  I  almost  didn't want to eat them....I did eat the daisy cookie but saved the teapot one.

I love the Tea for One teapot my daughter found at Callaway Gardens for me.

Two of my three daughters gave me Roses.....to plant...  so happy that my two grandsons and  son~in~law planted them for me.. One is a yellow Knock Out Rose and the other is a white Tea Rose.

The cookie set was from my daughter and her daughter and son, Morgan and  JC,  and they gave me the sign.. I am so blessed,

I hope everyone had a BLESSED MOTHER'S DAY!

DRINKING FROM A SQUARE CUP

Have you ever drank from a square cup?  I hadn't until this morning.  Recently, well this past Christmas I went on a tour of homes, in one of the homes the bedroom was decorated in French Country.  I fell in love with it.

Loved the curtains
And the side table.

I've always loved this style and have tried to put some of it in my home.

Now back to my square cup.  Yesterday my sister and I spent the day shopping.  I had been looking for a cup to match with my bedroom, (silly huh!)   I found one but it was square, I loved it anyway.  Now never have had drank from one, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to, do I drink from the side or find a point and use it like a spout?

I found it difficult at first, I didn't give up,  I used it both ways.  Those of you that know me or have been reading my post for awhile know that I am not a journalist.  I do my best to get what I want to say in words as best I can. In my morning devotional I read James chapter 1(kjv).    I found it interesting, ...life can be like a square cup..trails and troubles comes upon us and we may not know how to handle them...do I do this? or that? or what?  I found the answer in verse 3, when difficult times comes upon us we should "count it all joy when we have trails,  knowing that faith worketh patience"  Patience means to have staying power or the ability to endure.  In my daily life, as in the square cup, I trust that by faith and God's grace I can learn and grow from difficult times.
2 Corinthians 12:9

May your cup run over with Blessings!
(Psalms 23:5)

HOW TO TELL VINTAGE CHINA'S AGE?

Yesterday my daughter and I went shopping around town and in one antique shoppe  she found a set of vintage Homer Laughlin China  "Virginia Rose".  She fell in love with it.  When her hubby came home from work she asked him if he would get it for her, for mother's day.  He told her to go back today and get it.  I met her there to help put it in her car, it has a few pieces missing and she's hoping to find the missing pieces.  On the back stamp are some numbers.  Can anyone tell me how to tell the date it was made?  The lady in the store looked it up on the Internet and she said from the 1940's - 1950's.

I was wondering if the 47  on it could be 1947.

I did google "How to read a back stamp" but didn't find anything to my satisfaction.  It is a beautiful set of 8 dinner plates, 6 teacups and saucers, 2 salad bowls, salt & pepper, sugar & creamer, bowls and other pieces.  I told her I would ask and blog about it and hopefully someone would have more information or had some to sale in their Etsy Shoppe.  She would like to end up with an eight piece setting.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Have a Blessed Day!
