Our Daily Life needs an Anchor

Peter and the other disciples got into the ship and sailed out into the sea, as Jesus had told them to do, a storm arose and the waves were tossed and the wind was contrary. They became afraid,as they looked out into the night they saw a man walking on the waters. Jesus spake to them saying "Be of good cheer;it is I;be not afraid".  Matthew:24-36
Peter asked to come on the water also, and Jesus bid him to come. but as Peter stepped out onto the waters, he took his eyes off Jesus, the wind had become boisterous,he was afraid and began to sink, he cried out for Jesus to 'save him'. Jesus reached out his hand to him. When they came into the ship the winds ceased and all was calm.

The storms of our personal life can come upon us as fast as the ones that bring the rains, thunder and lightening! Those storms that are within us that causes us to douth our faith and become fearful so our focus is on the situation and not on the One that's in control. The waters of douth rises and we feel as though we'll sink into the ocean of fear and uncertainty.
Just like Peter we need an Anchor for our souls, when we take our eyes off our Savior, we can sink.

In Times Like These
Ruth Caye Jones

In times like these you need a Savior
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

This Rock is Jesus, yes, He's the only One!
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock.

In times like these I have a Savior,
In times like these I have an Anchor;
I'm very sure, I'm very sure
My Anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!.

This song has been on my heart lately as I face some storms in my life, as I write this, my Lord, my anchor, has shown me that He is in control, that I must trust Him and not be afraid. I prayed as I started this post that He would give me the words to say that it may bless some one and now I find that He speaks to me. Oh what a wonderful Savior! His love and promises are always near us, if only we'll reach out and take His hand. I'll put my focus back on His promise to always be near, and "come aside to a deserted place and rest awhile." Mark 6:31

I come aside from the world of strife,
With its burdens, trials, and the cares of life
To a beautiful,quiet, restful place
Where I commune with my Jesus face to face..
.Brandt from Our Daily Bread

Have not I commanded thee?
Be strong and of good courage;
be not afraid,
neither be thou dismayed: for
the Lord thy God is with you
whithersoever thou goest.
Joshua 1:9

Like a ship on the sea needs an anchor to cause it to be still,
we need an anchor for our souls!

Lord help us to keep our focus on You,
the Anchor for our souls!

May God Bless you on this Memorial Day weekend!

Interruptions in life

I've  always believed that there was a reason and purpose for all things in life. Ecclesiastes 3:1  'to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:'.   Life very seldom goes the way we plan it.  I've learned this lesson in the last few weeks.  God may have other plans for us that is better.
As I read my devotional this morning I was reminded of not to depend on others or myself, but to look to Him, the one that knows our future and all things that concerns us. Jeremiah 29:11

Jesus found the opportunity to minister to a suffering woman and demonstrate His power and love. When He was on His way to heal the daughter of Jairus,a women with a health issue, touched the helm of His clothing. Her faith made her whole. (Mark 5:21-34)  The interruption of the trip to visit Jairus' daughter was known by Jesus to happen, but the disciples were irritated by this. Jesus saw it as an opportunity to minister to a suffering woman. In the meantime Jairus' daughter had died.  Jesus told them not to be afraid ,only to believe, that she was only asleep.

In our trails and sufferings, Jesus already knows the outcome, we are only to believe and trust Him. Our disappointments in life can and may very well be God's appointment, to bring us to a better understanding of His will for us, to teach us to depend on Him and strengthen our faith and bring us to a closer relationship with the one that already knows our future.

So today as I start a new week I'll try to see the purpose in my life for the interruptions in the plans I've made, and pray that I not become irritated and complain but to minister to others and be a better witness of His Love. To take each interruptions as blessings in disguise.

My first grandchild graduates from high school this Friday. I'd planed to attend all his senior functions last week but my plans was interrupted and I only attended one out of three, I do believe it was for this reason, to slow me down and to trust God and wait on Him to lead me to a closer understanding of love and ministering.

I awoke at 4 this morning and could not go back to sleep, so I got up, put on a load of clothes to wash, and read my daily bible devotion.

Lord, this humble house we'd keep,
Sweet with play and calm we sleep,
Help us so that we may give
beauty to the lives we live.
Let Thy beauty and thy Grace
Shine upon our dwelling place.

Counting My Blessings !

Today I'm counting my blessings, it's been a good week,  there's always blessings in the "not so good" times.  Having to drive Two and a half hours round trip every day for my Hubby's appointments is tiring, but necessary.   Our son-in-law let us borrow his camper this week, so we could stay nearby the doctors office's and not have to drive every day. That was a blessing indeed!

It was really nice and quiet most of the time.

The boaters got out early also.

Each morning I would go outside with my cup of tea, watch the sun come up over the water and  admire God's handiwork.
Blessing!

I love the outdoors and nature's little creatures. Watching them is soothing. Early in the morning the ducks would come swimming by to say hello.

Blessings!

This was the prettiest woodpecker I've ever seen, but he wouldn't get close or stay in one place but a minute at a time. He (or she) was red, black and white.

 Blessing!

There were lots of boats over the weekend but during the week just a few.

The ducks wanted to come for  food  a visit, but Madi said, "NO WAY!"  She ran them back into the water.

We're home now and we'll start over tomorrow, a new day and a new week. He's doing good and we're praying for a break some this week.

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK!

Card for a Sick Blogger

Good morning, while I find a little time to check blog post this morning, one of my blogging friends did a post about a dear sweet 84 year young blogger that is sick and I believe she said she's in the hospital. She loves to blog and dearly loves to get mail. She posted a blog where you can get the address and send her a card to help cheer her up.
Going through this time in my life with my husband, I know how it would feel to receive encouragement cards and prayers.  I too will try and find time to send her a card so if you wish to also you can find the address at this blog.

FINDING STRENGTH

Internet photo

Count your garden by the flowers,
Never by the leaves that fall.

Count your days by golden hours,
Don't remember clouds at all...

Count your nights by stars
not shadows.
Count your years with smiles,
not tears.

Count your blessings,
not your troubles.

Count your age by friends,
not years

My Grace is sufficient for you,, for my power is made perfect in weakness". 2 Corinthians 12:9

I have received emails wanting to know how my husband is doing with his treatments. He is doing good with them, Praise the Lord!  He hasn't been sick yet, just tired and weak. We will start our 2nd week on Monday then 6 more weeks of treatments.  They keep him full of nausea medicine.  I keep him loaded with energy drinks, like Ensure. Thanks so much for asking, it is a blessing to know that you care. He gave me permission to write about him.

Fear not for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea I will help thee...Isaiah 41:10 KJV

We find strength in God's words, our faith is weak at times but just when we get to the lowest place, He lifts us up to higher ground.

Exodus 15:2
The Lord is my strength and song, and He is become my salvation: He is my God...

We're counting our Blessings for God has been good to us!

Have a Blessed weekend!
