What to do on a Rainy Day!

70 % rain today!
Wow, now what to do on a Rainy Day!
Dark and dreary days can be depressing
if we let it.

Isaiah 60:19
"The Lord will be your everlasting
light, and your God will be your
glory...''

So I embrace it and do some decorating!

I put a couple of scarecrows on the porch.

I always enjoy dressing up my table,
even if no one is coming for dinner.

A pretty leaf plate placed in a green one.
I used fall wash cloths for napkins.

Placed a few leaves and small pumpkins around
the centerpiece, and a few other items.

A teapot is always a must!

Now I'm ready for fall.

Have a Blessed Day!

Weeding our Garden

When I was a young girl I remember going to my Aunt Ruby's. She lived on a very large farm. Cows, goats, chickens and all that stuff. Beside her house was a huge garden of roses.
Yes, being young everything was huge or large to me!
Maybe that's who I got my love of roses from.
Her garden was always well manicured, no weeds or bugs that I could see. It smelled heavenly from the scent of the Roses.

After I married, I begin to garden in my own yard,
I could stay out there from sunup to sundown, pulling weeds and planting flowers, did I say 'pulling weeds'. If it wasn't for those weeds it would be so much more enjoyable!

Today there's another kind of weeds I have to pull, not from my garden but from my life. Those things that are not pleasing to my heavenly father. My attitude,  anger, pride and more. If not attended to, as the weeds in my garden, they would grow and become unmanageable and life, like my garden would not have the sweet fragrance like the roses I love to smell and makes my garden lovely to look at.

This reminds me of another garden where Jesus went with his disciples to pray before He was crucified . He prayed to His father God in heaven,

Matthew 26:42
"O Father, if this cup  may not pass from me, except I drink it, thy will be done"

Surrendering to God's will lets us become victorious over the weeds or sins in our life.
We do have to be diligent though and watch for them to pop up like the weeds in our garden.

Matthew 26:41
"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit is willing but the flesh is week."

Since Jesus surrendered in the garden of Gethsemane, we can have 'amazing grace', as we surrender to His weeding of our sins from our life.

On this day of remembrance, let us remember
what Jesus said,

11 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall
humble themselves, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land."

"Dear Lord, thank you for the price
you paid for me at Calvary!
Help me to surrender to you
those weeds in my life that
aren't pleasing to you, so that
my life may be fruitful for you"!
Amen

Have a Blessed Day!

Flowers love the Rain and updates!

There has been some changes in my yard lately!
Some small and some large!
We have had some days that it rained a lot and
some just a little, but it sure helped my flowers.
Just look at this huge Elephant Ear plant.

This pretty Crape Myrtle was planted last fall.

The 'America Climbing Rose' has reached the top of the arbor trellis!
I am loving the pretty Roses that continue to bloom.

 The Hosta's always thrive here.

Now to update on what's going on:

This next photo was taken at the beginning of spring.
My patio looks so much different and better now.

A few weeks ago I was surprised when my daughter
came and asked if I was ready. I said 'for what?'
We had been talking about taking down the patio cover, well she wasn't going to do it herself, but the boys and men were on their way too!

Here they are! My two older grandsons loved being on top of the roof. It had began to look a little a lot ragged, to say the least.

This is how it looks now.

I had to move half of my plants to the front porch since there were no where to hang them.

I am always moving them around, can't ever decide how I like it best!

We never used the front porch much, so I didn't get around to putting plants in the planter box my hubby built for me a few years ago, maybe I'll put mums in them soon, for fall.
We sit on it mostly now since it's been so hot and the patio is in the sun. Milo (cat) has moved to it also.

Update:

I put this post in the draft until I could buy the mums, now I am ready for fall!

I hope you are having a great day.

Happy 100th Birthday, Reggedy Ann

Today is Raggedy Ann's 100th Birthday!

I wanted to do a longer post about this popular doll, but haven't had time to find my information and take photo's of the many dolls and other items I have collected over the years, so a short one will have to do for now. This is one of my dolls.

As I learned many years ago that the maker of Raggedy Ann, Johnny Gruelle, made the doll for his daughter, Marcella, after she fell sick from smallpox shots given at school. The first doll was an old rag doll that didn't have eyes. He sewed buttons on it for eyes and drew a  heart on her chest.
She played with the doll and her father told her stories to keep her company. Marcella died from multiple shots given to her at school, without permission from her parents.

Here is a link to a website if you would like to read about it.

I hope to do a better post on Raggedy Ann later.
I have collected and cherish many of these precious dolls.

Have a Blessed Labor Day!

Sunday Inspiration

Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile.
Mark 6:31

Find time today to come aside and reflect on life and the things you are blessed with!

Find joy in this day!
