A PLACE

I enjoy my early morning devotional time with my Lord. I never feel so close to Him as when I am in His word, the Bible.
This morning as I turned to today's date in "Our Daily Bread", the title was "A Place to Be".  It made me stop and think, really think on that word and what it meant. Places brings back memories hidden deep within us of times gone by good or not so good. Places where we may have lived and was sad or happy.  In my 53+ years of marriage I have lived in many different places I called home.
Each time I would work to make it a home where we could be comfortable. I think maybe if I had lived in one place  so long I may have gotten too comfortable and would forget what Jesus said in John 14:1-2
"I am going ... to prepare a place for you" !

There's a much better place waiting for those of us that have placed our faith and hope in the Lord.
He has a place for us that exceeds any place on earth we might have. I've learned not to put all my hope and joy in earthly homes, for I have a better place to look forward too!

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am you may be also".
John 14: 3

Dear Jesus, I wait for my home with you that you've promised to have prepared for me.
Thank you that I can look forward to a much better place than what this world has.
Amen

Have a Blessed Sunday!
Sylvia

What a beautiful post, Sylvia. I think this may be the best post you have ever written (that I have read anyway). It is so true-when we are younger so many of us are invested in making/creating the perfect Earthly home and forget that someday we will not be in this realm...this place is temporary. I, myself, have moved many times and always 'dressed' my home in the best way I could to make the perfect home. Life changes everything...illness changes your outlook as does the loss of people you love. You begin to value life more and 'things' less.
God bless you. This was a perfect post. xo Diana

Oh, Amen!!! This world is NOT our final home, praise the Lord! He is preparing a marvelous eternal home for us that no human hands could ever construct...and no human mind can even begin to comprehend it's magnificence!!! I am so looking forward to that day!! Praise the Lord, He will be there in the midst of it all! So amazing. Thank you for these thoughts and reminders today!!!

We recently attended a memorial service for a precious 91 year old and her grandson-in-law spoke about how we so often say when someone passes away that they're in a better place.... He said how that's somewhat wrong because they're in the best place.

Amen! I wake early in the morning and have my devotional time in the quiet of the house, too. My mother always sang "I've Got A Mansion" whenever she was in the kitchen working. Your post brought that old hymn to mind.

What a beautiful message, Sylvia, and I especially loved your last sentence, in your own words! Yes, we have a better home waiting for us, one day, and it's far better than this temporary one. Thank you for the reminder!
