How Many Times

How often have we seen others accomplishing things we ourselves have longed for. Do we read about someone going places where we haven't been able financially  to go. Do we compare ourselves to others when we shouldn't. So often I have to remind myself that God has promised to be with me and supply my needs to accomplish what He wants for me! This means that I don't need the approval or permission from others when He provides the resources, I just need to use my time and talents to bless others and give Him the Glory.  Keeping my eyes of faith on Him will keep me from becoming resentful.

John 21:15-22
Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him, the first time after Peter said that he loved Him, Jesus said, "Feed my Lambs". Two more times Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him, each time He said "Feed my Sheep".  When Peter pointed to another disciple and asked "What about him", Jesus said to him, "What is it to you?".
I have asked myself that very question when comparing myself to another. My answer is  usually that it is "none of my business". I just need to follow, obey and be faithful to Jesus in what He has for me to do!
How many times do we need to be asked if we love our Lord, before we are willing to follow Him.

Follow Me
by Ira Stamphill

I traveled on a lonely road and no one seem to care,
the burden on my weary back had bowed me to despair.
I oft complained to Jesus how folks were treating me.
And then I heard Him say so tenderly,
"My feet were also weary upon the Calvary road;
the cross became so heavy, I fell beneath the load,
Be faithful weary pilgrim the morning I can see,
Just lift your cross and follow close to me."

Have a Blessed Sunday!
Sylvia

I am so thankful that I am not really envious of what others have, I try to be content in my life. Thanks for posting. I also know I need to spend more time with our Lord.

I have not been a jealous person, but happy for anyone to go where they want, or be who they want. God takes care of my every need and want. Praise Him.

Thank you Sylvia for this post. It is so good to remember that Jesus truly loves us . It's not good to compare ourselves to others. But we all need to make an honest effort to be what God wants us to be. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Your post is a good reminder to me as well. I think we all tend to see what others are doing and wish we could be there too from time to time. But we each have to live the life we've been given and make the very most of it. I've been thinking of writing something along these lines as well. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend/Sunday. Best wishes and blessings to you and yours.

You are right, we don't need approval or permission from others. There is no point to compare ourselves with others. It's more important to be yourself, and not someone else!

I love that Psalm. I like to personalize it in my daily prayer.
"This is the day that the Lord has made, I WILL rejoice and be glad in it." Lord, this day belongs to You, therefore, direct my steps in it and use me as Your vessel.
My hearts desire is to go and be used of the Lord in whatever He has for me, not looking around at what He's doing with others.
This is a good reminder, Sylvia, to keep my eyes on Christ, and Christ only.

I trust you have had a wonderful week end?
Blessings, Debbie

Beautiful post and wonderful encouragement. I love the exhortation to rejoice in each and every day that God has made. When I hear close Christian loved ones complain, I ask them if they would like the alternative better (no days on earth) and gently remind them of this scripture. I also remind myself when I am tempted to complain. Have a great week.

Very good message and reminder, God provides our needs and each day we should rejoice that He gives us another day to be with our loved ones.
