Fall Break Mini Vacation

Last week was fall break so we rented a cottage at F.D. Roosevelt State Park and invited our girls and grandchildren, that could, to go with us.

I love the old stone building where you check in.
The hanging light is so pretty.

In the back of the building, is an overlook.

The days were cool so it was nice to have a fire in the fire ring, each day to roast marshmallows.

The girls (and boys) love to kayak. There's the runaway paddle boat. It didn't go far though, the breeze kelp pushing it back to shore.

My daughter, Susan and granddaughter, Morgan, laid down in their kayak's  and drifted all over the lake. The water was so pretty.

My grandsons JC and Joshua was fishing across the lake but you aren't able to see them. I love how the sun made the shadows of the trees on the ground.

The geese came out to meet us, really they just wanted to be fed.

We love this state park it's only a short drive from where we live, so we try to go as often as we can. It's always more exciting and enjoyable when the family can go with us. We all had a great time and didn't want to leave!

Have a Blessed Day!
Sylvia

Sylvia, That looked so fun. I would love to do something like that with my children again....we used to take a weekend fall foliage adventure when they were in school. Blessings for a wonderful week. xoxo, Susie

This is a beautiful place! I do like the check in building with all the stone work. I loved it when I lived in Tennessee. There were state parks everywhere and one only about 5 miles from where I lived. I'm glad you had this get-away.

The park seems like the perfect family vacation spot. It's so nice to get away from all of the technology and enjoy nature as a family. What a great time of the year to go there!

Oh, I have a friend who goes there all the time but guess what, I have never been there! (I know that Callaway Gardens is nearby, I have been there twice in my life and thought it was beautiful.)
Oh well, maybe I will get down there one day! :-)
