Afternoon Light Tea

Light Tea is a lighter version of afternoon tea
with scones, sweets, and choice of tea.

"What would the world do without tea?
How did it exit?
I am glad
I wasn't born
before tea."

Sydney Smith

Enjoying my afternoon light tea, with a cup of Vanilla Caramel Tea in a teacup
a blogger friend sent me.
This is one big cinnamon roll my hubby brought back from the store..yum!
I had to add the daisies, so ready for Spring!

"Drinking a daily cup of Tea
will surely starve the apothecary."

Your light tea looks delicious. I still get confused about English mealtimes. "Tea" as I've seen it in books and programs looks a lot like dinner or supper for us. So, do they have tea and then later, dinner? Or do they have "tea" and no dinner but light tea on the days they have dinner? Inquiring minds want to know. As long as tea is with it, I'd be happy.

Hello Sylvia, Oh your photos and quotes are great. It is cooler and windy this afternoon and your tea sounds delish and what a pretty cup! That roll looks so tasty, too! We stopped at the bakery earlier and picked up some fresh bagels that will be good with a cuppa tea. God bless your afternoon/evening.

The questions Melanie raised are also things I am curious to know. That cinnamon roll looks fabulous.

To answer some of the above queries regarding tea from a New Zealand point of view - most of my generation's ancestors came from Britain so we have morning and afternoon tea. Morning tea is usually mid morning, a cup of tea (or coffee these days) and a plain biscuit. Afternoon tea is slightly fancier in that we might have cake as well as a biscuit with our cup of tea, served on a nice plate. This is about halfway between lunch and the evening meal, sometimes as late as 4 o'clock. Tea is our main meal in the evening, usually followed by a cup of tea. Some people are now calling this dinner but when I was growing up dinner was a hot meal in the middle of the day and the evening meal that day would be a light one, still called tea. Followed by a cup of tea of course. Then later in the evening we have supper, another cup of tea and a biscuit. As someone said, New Zealanders have 6 meals a day if you count all the 'teas'.
I enjoyed your post by the way.
