I enjoy planting flowers each Spring
in pots, some small and some larger.
I love color and try to plant as many
as I can care for.
Each morning I go out to water them.
Taking care of them is a chore but one
that has it's rewards, but some not so
good.
You see I have a squirrel that lives in a
tree in my yard. I believe it's this pesky
little animal that digs in my flower pots
and uproots the plants.
It has even eaten the flowers off the moss rose
(the last pot on bottom row).
I have also seen several holes in the ground.
It could be a chipmunk or both that digs up
my plants.
I am reminded of another pest in my life.
As hard as I try to do good and let my love show,
there's this thing that we all have, it's called
"sin nature". We're all born with it.
It's the things we do or say that "uproots" our
testimony. Unkind words or actions can uproot
all the good we've done.
Today as I water my flowers, I'll be
reminded to water the seeds in my life with words of kindness and actions with good deeds. I will try my best to treat others the way I wish to be treated.

Sylvia, It makes me crazy if rabbits get to my plants. That is one reason I like containers...you can sit them up a bit higher from the little pests. I have sprinkles repellents around at times. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
My father used to give the squirrels peanuts to keep them from digging in the garden but I am not sure if that worked or just kept them coming!
I cant wait to see how your garden looks when the plants are fully grown. I hope you will show us :)
We have a squirrel who hangs on to the Bird feeders! He hasn't yet dug anything up.

Just as the squirrel uproots our plants, so does our sinful nature uproots our good deeds. Something we all need to remember, especially me.
I pray that God will nourish the good seeds and I pray for crop failure for the bad seeds I have planted.
Love your thoughts as your water your plants. Praying the varmint will leave them alone and let them grow!! Yes, we have varmints in our lives too, that keep bugging us and won't let us grow! But thanks be to Jesus...He helps us to overcome the "varmints" of our lives! Great post today!!

If you continue having problems with squirrels eating plants, you can try putting human hair around the plant. I did that once in a garden bed around a big maple and the squirrels would throw themselves at the tree to avoid the hair.
I'm like you. I love to plant pretty, colourful flowers every year. Last year I planted veggies too and some animal (perhaps a squirrel, perhaps a rat) ate everything before they had a chance to grow big and be harvested. They left all the debris behind like empty pea casings. I hope this year the animals will leave your plants alone (and mind too). I just see Carol's tip. Perhaps I'll try it.
