Wonderful Rainy Wednesday

It's raining again today and is suppose to all week and through the weekend.
We need the rain to wash away the pollen and water the trees and plants. Yes, the birds need the water also, but it is dreary out so I used this time to clean all the floors in the house.
Thank you God for your Love and for this rainy day!

My daughter gave me this pretty Hibiscus for Mother's Day. I have never had one before so any info on how to take care of it will be appreciated, do I plant it or can I leave it in this pot?
I'm not sure if it's hardy for my zone 8 or not.

I do love it and would love to leave it here on my porch since my dirt is so hard and I am not able to dig because of my knees.

The hibiscus is beautiful. I just looked and GA gardener, Walter Reeves, has some info on growing hisbiscus here: http://www.walterreeves.com/landscaping/hibiscus-identification/
We had heavy rain all night and it is still raining. We will have a jungle when the sun comes out!!!

Since I moved some things in my garden - I appreciate the overcast! This helps!

Rain...we could use some of that too.
I love rainy days for baking. :-)
I had a hospice client who had a hibiscus plant growing in her home, it was potted in a large pot and placed near a window. Now this is in the Rocky mountains where you would think they would not grow, but it did beautifully. She was unable to look after her plants and I did my best to care for them on her behalf, and I was shocked that I didn't destroy it, so maybe they are a hardy plant? I do great with outside plants and flowers not so good with inside plants. :-)
Yours is beautiful. All the best if of luck with it.

Enjoy your day~

I'm enjoying a nice rainy day too, Sylvia!

I don't know anything about that type of flower. Maybe google? :)

Blessings...

We are also having some wonderful rain...so thankful. Although today the sun has been shining again more than rain...but that is okay too. As far as your hibiscus goes, I don't know what kind it is, but you may want to check that out. They are susceptible to freezing here where I live, and I have not had good luck with them outside. But I don't know how they would do inside either...so, maybe there is a local plant place that can help you with that question. It is beautiful. I hope it will grow and flourish.

When we lived in France the hibiscus grew as big bushes in the garden! Yours is lovely and it can stay in a pot, but maybe in a bigger one.

Sylvia, So sweet to get a beautiful flower from your daughter. I just love getting potted plants from my children. They know I like them on the porch. Hope you can plant yours and enjoy it over and over. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Hi Syl - we've had a few fast rainstorms blow in - but for the most part it's been sunny here. In fact it's odd a month ago it was snowing and now it's HOT and humid. Spring is leaving as fast as it arrived.

Your hubiscus plant is gorgeous - what a sweet gift.

Hugs. ♥

Lovely hibiscus. It will grow into a tree and will need a really large pot.
I had a big one in my house at one time that reached the ceiling!
