Tea with Friends

Good Morning, blogging friends!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend,
My weekend started out with Tea
with some friends I hadn't seen in a long
time.

Saturday some friends and I gathered at Jane's home ,
a co-worker and friend, that we worked with  years ago.
It was so much fun, for us to be able to see the others,
again after such a long time.

Jane and I decided it was time,
so we planned to have a small Tea and share memories.

Here we are at work, remember this is in the early 90's,
I'm on the right and she's in the middle.

Jane and I have been friends since 1992.
We've shared a lot of ups and downs in our lives.

I arrived early to see if I could help with getting the table ready,
of course she had everything under control.

The table was all set and ready, so she told me to sit for a moment,
she had written a poem and wanted to read it to me.

A Friendship Tea
"The cup of Tea I shard with you"
by Jane Setzer
February 4,2017

Today as I awaken the sun said to me,
Jane, wouldn't this be a lovely day to have
some friends for tea?
Yes, I smiled and answered, I truly do agree;
this would be the perfect day to share a cup
of tea.

Call up my friends and tell them that 'One' will be the time -
leave all your cares and worries behind,
just come and clear your mine.
I'll make some homemade goodies and they will be my best,
for everything must be just right for my
Special Guest!

Bring out the China dishes, put flowers all around
Oh this will be the Grandest Tea-
the talk of the  town!
Pretty cloth's on the table, lovely napkins for our laps.
We'll sip and laugh for hours, so much to talk about!
And when our party is over and my day is through-
I'll smile as I remember the cup of tea,
I shared with you!

Even thought we didn't think of it as a Valentine Tea,
Jane had her home all decorated.

Each guest arrived and we met them at the door with hugs of joy!
Nikki on the left, then Sandy, myself and Jane!
Someone had to take the photo, so Jean isn't in this one.
So here she is at the table with Sandy and Jane! Jean our employer, and Pharmacist.

We enjoyed our Tea and all the food,
then we enjoyed looking at old photo's of 'back in the day'!

Now I didn't get on the floor, if I had I wouldn't have been able to get back up.

We had such a good time, that we decided to do it again in a few weeks with more friends from the pharmacy.

A Country Valentine Burlap Wreath

Stephanie over at The Enchanting Rose
and
Mary over at Visits with Mary,

made a Valentine Wreath, theirs were so pretty that
it got me to wanting to make one also.  I had bought this roll
of burlap back before Christmas. Didn't know what I was
going to do with it, I just loved and wanted it.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with
it but I love rustic, as well as frilly things. What other
than use it for a Valentine Wreath!

I took a clothes hanger and my sweet hubby cut the
top off it and I bent it into what looked somewhat
like a heart to start off with. I did have to tweak it a bit more.

I then took a needle and some craft thread folded the burlap and gathered it around the edges.

I ran the hanger through the gathered burlap and did use a little hot glue in places to keep it where I wanted it. I bent the wire together at the top. I then found some red ribbon in my sewing box, and glued it around the edges of the burlap. I put the key that I received
from my friend at Christmas at the top and tied a ribbon above it.
My daughter stopped in for a visit and she made a couple of suggestions. Between the both of us this is how it came out.

Now it's been a few years since I have done this type of thing.
Years ago I did do craft shows and sold my items,
but since I have arthritis, my fingers don't like me doing this
anymore.

These are the items I used.

Coat hanger
burlap roll
red ribbon
hot glue gun and glue sticks
Metal Key
Needle and Craft Thread

After ALL that hard work it's time for tea!

Have you tried the Little Debbie, Red Velvet Valentine Cake?
They're good!

Have a Blessed Day!
