Demitasse Cups

One of my prized finds when I worked in a high-end gift shop some years ago was a couple Demitasse cups.  They are of the Allyn Nelson Collection.

Pink Roses being my favorite, a cup with them on it always catches my eyes first.
I love the shape of the handle also.

The gold rim around the edges adds that special touch!

And the roses on the inside of the cup!

The stamp on the bottom is hard to read, (and it's small)  one day I hope to upgrade to
a higher grade camera. My Nikon L24 will have to do for now.

My set of teaspoons with the teacup on the end
goes great when serving tea..makes
teatime more special.

This demi cup has purple violet's on it.

Thanks for visiting today, please come by again!

A Cool Morning Breakfast!

I love to eat out on our covered patio, especially when the mornings are cool....I'm doing it more ofter now.  The early mornings are cool but about 10:00 it starts getting hot here in Central Georgia. The birds are up early and singing.  I try to make my table as cozy as possible to make the day start out good.

This morning I made Strawberry Scones, Lemon Curd, Bacon and Scrambled Eggs, of course my husband insisted on his coffee, but I used my teacup. The stamp on the bottom says Fine China Japan. I had Constant Tea, one of my favorites for breakfast.

My scones turned out to taste great but a little large.  Are there such a thing as a pan that makes them turn out the same size every time?  I'd sure love to get one if there are.

I used my new three footed dish I bought at our church yard sale a couple weeks ago, for my Lemon Curd.

I love the little feet and the cruves around the top and the silver flower design on it.

Have A Blessed Day!

Lunch with Morgan

My granddaughter,Morgan, has spent the last two days with me helping me learn a few things on my blog and on my new smart phone, which has outsmarted us both.  We didn't get to eat at the Tea Room yesterday, so today we went to our local, August Moon Tea Room.

My Precious blessings, Morgan!  She flies out tomorrow for a week's visit with her Aunt in Naples,Florida. This is her first time flying on a plane, but her other grandmother will be with her.

We both had a chicken salad sandwich ,brocolli salad, chips, and Mint Chocolate Tea,of course we had to have Strawberry Shortcake with whipped cream for desert. The batteries in my camera went out and I didn't get a picture of all we ate.

The Chocolate Mint Tea was very good! Loved the teacups we had for our tea.  See the basket on the front of the teacup.

Here's the stamp on the bottom, Royal Tudor.

The saucer had the design all in it, so pretty!

With the flower inside the cup, I love it when they put it there.

Don't you just love these cute little teapot salt and pepper shakers!

Have a Blessed day!

A Note from a Friend

This morning my granddaughter and I drove an hour and half to eat at a favorite Tea Room of mine that she hadn't eaten at.  When we got there we found that it had closed and will be reopened next week by a new owner.  The name of it will be, Paris in a Teacup,  I'm excited about that, the lady that told us said it would have a Parsian decor.  After shopping awhile and then driving the hour and half back home, I was really tired.  I picked up the mail from the mailbox and was greeted by a note from my friend Ginny, in Ohio.  Inside the card she had written a nice note and placed a teabag. It was a new one she had found and wanted me to try. Then she said "to make a cup and sit and relax and enjoy".  It was if she knew how I'd be feeling. So I did, and I really did enjoy it.

I had made a cake for Fathers Day so it went good with the tea.

 The Card

The tea was Ahmad Tea from London,England. It was a decaffeinated Evening Tea. I found it very smooth and lightly favored with bergamot.

I used  a teacup that I got at a yard sale a couple years ago.  I don't know the name or what kind it is since it didn't have anything stamped on the bottom, but it is very pretty.

The cup and saucer has a white rose with some pink accents on it.

There's a Rose inside the cup, isn't that neat!

All wasn't lost, when we were shopping in the antique store I found this crystal candle holder and candle for $6.00.

Surprise Iris

Can you believe I have an Iris blooming in June in Central Georgia!  They are usually the first flower to bloom in spring, and only last a few weeks.  It is a  very pretty purple.

Can you see the Iris,  the Purple Heart is behind it and makes it hard to see?

This morning I noticed my Angel's Trumpets blooming. I love how they are long like a trumpet.  They come in white, pink and yellow.  I only have the pink ones.

My Sister Doris' Garden

Last week I visited my sister, Doris, her garden is always a treat to walk around in. She's always changing things around and planting new plants.  Her health hasn't been too good lately and she is finding it hard to keep up.

She told me that this is a French Lace  "Twist and Shout" Hydrangea.

Here are some photo's I took.

She has flowers planted inside the bed frame most years, this year she hasn't felt up to doing so much.  The old keddle is hanging just behind the bed frame.  Most of her plants have finished blooming, but there are so much greenry and different leaf colors that it makes up for it.

Pathway to the arbor swing.

Old frog I gave my brother-in-law one year for his birthday, loves to swing in the breeze.

The Lady of Spring watches over the garden.

Her walkway in the spring and how it looks now.   The same flower beds but from  both ends of the sidewalk.

Early Spring

Now.

Hope you have enjoyed our walk in the garden today.

Have a blessed Day!

Recipe for German Chocolate Pound Cake

I tried a new recipe for German Chocolate Pound Cake over the weekend for my grandsons 16th birthday.  Everyone loved it and ate it all..I know I'll be making it again.  Here is the recipe if you would like to try it also.

You will need:

1 box Betty Crocker German Chocolate cake mix
1 can Betty Crocker coconut pecan frosting
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 cup chopped pecans (divide into 2 half cups)

Spray bunt pan with no stick spray. I like Bakers Joy cause it has flour already in it.

Combine ALL ingredients except using only 1/2 cup of pecans.. (Yes even the frosting,) and mix well.
Add the other half cup of pecans in bottom of bunt pan.

As you can see my bunt pan is well used, maybe it's time for a new one. Pour mixture into bunt pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean.
Cool in pan for one hour.

Turn onto plate after cooled for an hour

You can eat it without glaze, Here is recipe for the glaze.

1 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring/or 1/4 teaspoon almond extract.

Mix together and drizzle over top.

This cake only lasted a couple hours but with 16 people eating it I guess that's about right.
