Tea Garden and Tea

I was at the grocery store the other day and this Georgia Gardening magazine caught my eye, my hubby said, 'are you going to buy it' (knowing I am not able to garden much anymore).  I said"Yes."

It wasn't until later that I realized , without knowing it, why I was drawn to this magazine. On page 48, this is what I found!

"Where there is tea, there is hope" -Arthur Wing Pinero

Now I was really surprised to find an article about Tea!
I won't be able to tell everything it said about tea because this post would be too long. It said that tea is a refreshing beverage that contains no sodium, fat, carbonation or sugar..(unless you add it,of course). It is virtually calorie free and has been shown to have a wide variety of health benefits, including reducing some forms of heart disease and cancers.

Now pardon me as I run to the kitchen and make myself a cup of Green Tea!

Now I would love to have a 'tea garden' . I did plant fennel, mints, and other herbs. The mint, I planted in a pot since it's so invasive but it grew out the hole in the bottom and still took over my flower bed.

Some of the plants in this Tea Garden are:
Chamomile- it soothes anxiety and is easy to grow.
Rose hip- tea is high in vitamin C and can be effective for hives.
Strawberries- can be added for color, and adds flavor to herbal teas.
Mint- can increase focus and ease tension.
Fennell- is a natural carminative and aids digestion.

It also says to add unique herbs to your garden such as pineapple sages for color and blooms. They also add a dash of flavor to a tea you make yourself. To use herbs  use 1 teaspoon dry herbs per 1 cup of hot water.

I found this very interesting, now I want to grow a Tea Garden!
Guess I'll just wait until it gets warmer and someone can help me dig holes in my hard and rocky dirt. For now I'll enjoy my cup of "green tea" in my new Lenox cup I found while visiting an antique store last week, and be happy that I'm getting healthy.

See how great my cup goes with the magazine articale, it has a bee inside the cup. Bees are good pollinators in a garden.

My tea cup is Lenox Butterfly Meadow Basket.

I love the basket wave around the top of the cup. I was so excited when I found it.

Have a Tea-lightful Day!

I think tea is becoming more poplar here in the U.S.A. You will love growing a tea garden as most of the plants are perennials. Love your Butterfly Meadow Basket mug. I have the regular set of Butterfly Meadow and love them.
Have a great day!

A tea garden is a great idea... and if you can't take care of one and have your own, you can always buy dried herbs online and make your own tea mixtures. We drink a lot of herbal tea here and I come up with teas for all sorts of things... I use both herbs I grow and some I buy. :)

I think it would be fun to have a tea garden. There are some books at the library that I've glance at about the subject. I enjoy green tea throughout the day. Your new mug is very pretty. I'm popping over from The Enchanting Rose. Have a great day, Heather

I think is a tea garden is a lovely idea! I have to be careful with herbals because of allergies, but I love the ones I can tolerate. And I love the cute little bee in your pretty cup!

How lovely to have a tea garden. Sounds like a wonderful idea. I've grown mint, and found that a coffee press is perfect for making fresh herb tea. Funny how your mint still found a way to escape and proliferate!

That is such a sweet cup, Sylvia. I once grew pineapple sage; it has the best fragrance and the hummingbirds loved it!

I like your pretty cup, Sylvia. The bee makes it even more charming. A Tea Garden sounds delightful and those that can grow one are fortunate. Tea has a great many benefits and it's interesting to learn how many there are. Thank you for sharing and stopping by for tea. Have a lovely week, my friend.

Blessings,
Sandi

What a fun article to find in that magazine, Sylvia. That cup is darling! My hubby loves tea. My system just does not do well with tea at all for some reason. The tannic acid in most teas gets to me.

I wonder if you could go "above ground" instead of digging down? My friend that has a hard time gardening anymore used a ring of cinderblocks (stones) and set them on the ground and then dumped several bags of top soil and compost between the stones, making a bed, and grows all kinds of stuff. The roots work their way deeper themselves down into the rocky soil part. xo Diana

What a great article! Thanks for sharing it. Yes, herbs make great additions to teas and are easy to grow. If you can't plant them in the ground just put them in pots on your back porch. I grow them in both places and have good luck. Love your new cup, too!

I love your post today. I drink herbal teas all the time; and for many of the reasons you wrote about. Fennel Tea really helps when my tummy is less than happy. I drink Peppermint tea too; it also helps soothe a tummy ache. I have one cup of Green Tea daily. And I try and finish off my day with a Chamomile Tea. I think tea is great. You were lucky to find such a nice tea cup and it goes perfectly with the article you were reading.

Morning! This was such a nice read, and everything just went together! I think having a magazine that inspires us even if we can't do all we use to do it is so good for us to get ideas! I bet you could manage a little herb garden, it would be material for a great post! Hugs to you, and I Loved the tea cup.

How fun would that be?! We are going to be planting our greenhouse next weekend and I was just telling my hubby that I wanted to try my hands at planting rose hips. This would be so fun. I agree with Roxy, I think you should just plant a small tea garden, after all you do drink tea everyday. We all need to be inspired often.

Oh and I love that tea cup, perfect for the post!

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Hugs,
Amy

What a happy and truly lovely inspirational post, Syl!

I think growing a tea garden would be so neat!

I love your spring/summer mug- it is happy, too! : - )

It's warming up here - and supposed to get into high 60s or low 70s on Wednesday then snow on Thursday, haha. We shall see, huh? Either way I will be sipping and smiling, for this warmer weather has me believing that winter is nearly gone. Whew, yay to that! Hugs!
