There is nothing like a Southern Magnolia Grandeflora !
Native to the Southeast U.S. and California, it is a fast growing tree and grows well in the Georgia sun. They are evergreen with large, fragrant flowers. It reaches 60 to 80 feet high with it's trunk up to 5 feet in diameter.
This tree is in my daughter Debbie's yard. There are many Magnolia Trees there on her property . She is blessed each year with large beautiful blossoms from all these great trees.
We had two rounds of thunder storms today, so I drove up to her house after they had passed over and she was so nice to let me cut a few blossoms. They make the house smell so good.
This is how it looks before it blooms.
Isn't it Beautiful!
I made a Lemon Cake yesterday, so an afternoon Tea Snack was the quick 'pick me up'.
I used a box cake mix and icing. To make it taste better and unlike a box mix you can do this:
Add one extra egg
Use butter instead of oil
and
Use milk instead of water.
(I used Heavy Whipping cream)
Yum Yum!!
I've shown this Magnolia teapot before, but since I was having our southern magnolia's for my flower arrangement, I wanted to include it.
Have a Blessed Day!
