Surprise Iris

Can you believe I have an Iris blooming in June in Central Georgia!  They are usually the first flower to bloom in spring, and only last a few weeks.  It is a  very pretty purple.

Can you see the Iris,  the Purple Heart is behind it and makes it hard to see?

This morning I noticed my Angel's Trumpets blooming. I love how they are long like a trumpet.  They come in white, pink and yellow.  I only have the pink ones.

My Sister Doris' Garden

Last week I visited my sister, Doris, her garden is always a treat to walk around in. She's always changing things around and planting new plants.  Her health hasn't been too good lately and she is finding it hard to keep up.

She told me that this is a French Lace  "Twist and Shout" Hydrangea.

Here are some photo's I took.

She has flowers planted inside the bed frame most years, this year she hasn't felt up to doing so much.  The old keddle is hanging just behind the bed frame.  Most of her plants have finished blooming, but there are so much greenry and different leaf colors that it makes up for it.

Pathway to the arbor swing.

Old frog I gave my brother-in-law one year for his birthday, loves to swing in the breeze.

The Lady of Spring watches over the garden.

Her walkway in the spring and how it looks now.   The same flower beds but from  both ends of the sidewalk.

Early Spring

Now.

Hope you have enjoyed our walk in the garden today.

Have a blessed Day!

Recipe for German Chocolate Pound Cake

I tried a new recipe for German Chocolate Pound Cake over the weekend for my grandsons 16th birthday.  Everyone loved it and ate it all..I know I'll be making it again.  Here is the recipe if you would like to try it also.

You will need:

1 box Betty Crocker German Chocolate cake mix
1 can Betty Crocker coconut pecan frosting
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 cup chopped pecans (divide into 2 half cups)

Spray bunt pan with no stick spray. I like Bakers Joy cause it has flour already in it.

Combine ALL ingredients except using only 1/2 cup of pecans.. (Yes even the frosting,) and mix well.
Add the other half cup of pecans in bottom of bunt pan.

As you can see my bunt pan is well used, maybe it's time for a new one. Pour mixture into bunt pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean.
Cool in pan for one hour.

Turn onto plate after cooled for an hour

You can eat it without glaze, Here is recipe for the glaze.

1 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring/or 1/4 teaspoon almond extract.

Mix together and drizzle over top.

This cake only lasted a couple hours but with 16 people eating it I guess that's about right.

My Furry Friends

Just  found myself being thankful for my furry pets, they can bring so much  joy to our lives. This is my cat, Milo and my chihuahua, Madi, when they first came to live with me.

Even tho Madi is a chichuahua, oops, don't tell her that, she is our gaurd dog, and boy can she bark if  "anything" comes around!

Milo loves to swing with us and when I walk Madi, he follows us every where we go, like a puppy!

Sleepy Milo!

Everyone should have such faithful and loyal pets!

Rose of Sharon

After all the rain we have been getting the last few days, the sun is out and the day is just beautiful. I went for a walk in the yard and found one bloom on my Rose of Sharon bush.

Love the color in the middle of the flower.

New Tea Set

Got out my new teaset this morning for my tea, don't know why I haven't used it sooner.  I bought it a couple months ago.

Roses always catches my eyes, especially when they're red or pink. Just tea and banana not cake this morning.

Love the softness of the colors and how they go together.

Enjoy your day and May it be Blessed in many ways!

My Church Yard Sale Find

Today I went to the yard sale at the church I attend, they are  raising money for the mission trip the Associate Pastor and other members go on every year.  I really got carried away!  I will only show one item today and will post more later.  It would take awhile to post all items.

I love the roses and the handles on the sides.  My mind just starts turning with ideas on how to use it.

Here is a close up of it.  I love that it says 1849-1894.

HAPPY A BLESSED DAY!
