A New Teaset

A  few weeks ago my daughter gave me a new tea set, it is a "Saki Sushi" tea set.

 

 

 

 

Since I don't eat Sushi, I don't know anything about it.  My daughter got it from the company that

she works for.  They are moving their office from one building to another and selling everything

except for they are taking to the new place.  She knew since it was a "tea set" it wouldn't matter

what kind it was.  Of course I loved it, she knows me too well.

 

 

This is the box it came in. I can't read Japanese so I don't know what it says.

A trip back in Time.

 

 

 

I love older homes and enjoy touring them.  It brings warmth and comfort to my soul.

Last Friday when my friend and I drove the 2 hour drive from my home to purchase tickets

for the upcoming Christmas Tour of Homes in the historic town of Madison,Georgia, we

were surprised by Ruth, the host at Heritage Hall, the headquarters for the Historical Society.

After we had paid for our tickets she asked if we'd like a tour of the home, of course we were

excited and said "yes".  Here are some pictures.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since a child I have loved these homes with the big columns.  We rang the door bell and when no

one came at once, we sat in the rocking chairs and enjoyed the view and pretended we lived here.

Oh but when we got inside it was so lovely, as if Scarlet O'Hara was somewhere in the house waiting

for us to be announced and would come down the stairs any minute.

I can see myself rocking in the rocker and enjoying this beautiful bedroom.

I hope you have enjoyed our tour of this great historic home and if you live near then on Nov.30th and Dec. 1, it and other homes will decorated for Christmas and you can tour it again, just get your tickets early and meet me there.  I'll be doing the day tour and night tour so I can see all the lights.

I love this small town and go there often since one of the state parks we camp at is only 30 minutes away.  Two years ago this month when we were there I came home with my Chihuahua, Madi, (short for Madison).  She was born in this town and given to me by a nice lady that works in one of the stores.

Madison Tea Room and Gardens

 

 



I promised pictures of the tea room that my friend, Jane, and I had lunch at last Friday when

we were in Madison,Georgia.  The main reason we were there was to purchase tickets to the

Christmas Tour of Homes that will be on November 30th and December 1st.  I'll tell you more

about that on tomorrow's post.  This is the outside of the tea room.  It is right in the center of town.

 

 

 

 

 

When we walked inside we could see beautifully decorated tables, and all the walls were lined

with tea sets, cups and teapots.  It was very pretty and just what I love.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I loved the tea cart with all the silver and china.  Every piece was so pretty.

 

 

 

 

This was one of my favorite teacups. 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a tea for one, since my friend Jane, had colon cancer she can't eat a lot of foods,

so she just had a couple of scones with jam.  On the bottom tier was a small chicken salad

sandwich, egg salad sandwich, and sliced carrots and cherry tomato's. There also was a  cucumber sandwich and a avocado with tomato sandwich.                  

 The middle tier

was a cranberry scone and grapes and strawberries.  The third tier had fudge, lemon cake,

a cream puff and I honestly don't remember what the fourth one was.

 

 

 

This was my plate.  Our tea was a black currant Tea which the owner Kathy, told us she imports

from Europe.  It was very good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was really amazed at all the fine china she had.   There was even a fireplace with a child's

table and chairs setting in front of it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We really enjoyed our lunch and the town.  Tomorrow I'll show you the mansion that we toured

where we got our tickets.  If you get the November issure of Victoria magazine, there are several

pages telling about the town of Madison.  It's called "A Small Town Christmas"

I love deer, I love to watch them graze , they are ao graceful, one of God's gifts to us.

I am thankful today for all His blessings on me.  I took this picture recently at the nature

center near where I live.

VISIT TO MADISON, A SNEAK PEEK

 

 

 

 

 

Yesterday a friend and I visited the historic town of Madison, Georgia.  If you like small towns with

shops and lots of places to eat, you'll love Madison. It was a perfect day to spend outdoors,the wind

was gently blowing and the leaves were falling.  As we walked along the sidewalk we could hear the leaves rustling  in the wind.  As you can see the leaves had turned beautiful colors.  We ate at a tea room in town and toured an historic home.  That's all I can tell you today about our trip, next week I'll have pictures

of the Madison Tea Room and Gardens, and the Heritage Hall.  Hope to see you then!

Flowers and Tea

 

 

When I heard  the weather report yesterday I thought of my hanging and pot plants.  It was going to be 38 degrees.  I have truly enjoyed them on my back covered patio this summer.

 

 

 



My iceberg roses have been pretty since the weather turned cooler.  I cut a bouquet and took them inside.

 

 

 

 

I found this pitcher at a goodwill store and it makes a good flower vase.

 

 

 

 

 

I made myself and my musical doll, my friend had given me, a cup of peppermint tea.

 

 

 

 

 

 

My teacup is just  a regular cup with pretty pink and rose color roses on it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I made some chocolate covered cookies.  Just break graham crackers into small pieces then

spread peanut butter on them and dip in melted chocolate.  It only takes a few minutes and

they are ready to eat! So simple and yummy!

 

 

 

 

 

It was 38 degrees this morning, the lowest so far, and very windy due to Hurricane Sandy.  My

plants were OK this morning.  I was thinking the cold might get them.

 

 

 

 

 

I pray that everyone is safe this morning after the storm last night.
